The use of CTRL-F4 in order to close only the attachment

When I open an email to read it, then open an attachment to this mail and want to close the attachment with CTRL-F4 (as I'm generally used to) Thunderbird closes completely. I wish it would only close the attachment the first time I press CTRL-F4, and only close the application the second time. It happened to me so often and it's really annoying.

I can't reproduce that. Does it also happen in Troubleshoot mode (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode)?
