Reduce the top bars

Why the need for three bars at the top of the screen, i would like to see it reduced to two, on my dell laptop, there is very little real estate left with three bars at the top, i really don't see a need for it, and it would be easy to reduce it to two bars, apart from that firefox is relatively good browser.
