Hi, how come this problem couldn't be fixed? I'm not a cs major but I'm pretty sure this feature shouldn't be an issue in 2024. I'm sure decent software engineers are involved in firefox and I just can't comprehend how such a simple feature is not yet implemented. There are other browsers that can do this and unfortunately we are using those browsers right now. If other browsers can do it, how come firefox can't? I've seen people requesting this feature since 24 years ago, and we've sent people to the moon in a shorter timeframe (the conceptualization of Apollo program was in 60s and Apollo 11 landed on moon in 69). Let me rephrase this; sending people to another celestial body took shorter than mozilla implementing customizable shortcut keys. Can someone please explain why is that so?
For various reasons I use multiple browsers every day. I have lost track of the amount of times I have tapped Ctrl+Shift+N to quickly load a Private Browser window and been surprised and infuriated when a 'recently closed window' reappears.
I would love love to see this changed or made customisable. Pretty please.
A Firefox Product Manager is looking into potential changes around hotkeys/keyboard shortcuts and recently kicked off a discussion thread here on Connect to gather more insights. Check it out and add your input — it's a great way to speak directly with the product team. Here's a link to the thread:
Really hope they change this. It breaks the shortcut to the Command Pallet in github codespaces and it was just maddening enough to drive me back to chrome as my daily driver.
