Option to prevent tapping on links from opening new tabs everytime

Status: New idea

Wish there was an option to stay in your current tab when you tap a new link. Annoying to have 5 tabs open after a browsing session. This is for Firefox on Android specifically. Firefox on desktop doesn't have this issue at all.

I am trying out the new TAB-group feature in Firefox desktop and I mostly like it. I used always the Simple tab group ext. but stopped that.

There is however a nasty problem. If I click a link in the last open tab in a tab group than the new tab is not opened in the same tab group, but in the next tab group. This is not logic. It should open in the same tab group, like it does when you tab a link in the first or penultimate tab in an open tab. Guess this could be a BUG???
