I would like to see that mozilla makes a private and secure messenger app. Something like whatsapp but then with mozilla protection.

if that happened my phone would start to become more and more like the Firefox os device I have been craving

https://chat.mozilla.org/#/login already provides this. If used with https://element.io/download, it provides the most cross-platform, interoperable solution that exists.

No I didn't. I saw it on a YouTube video not too long ago and knew I would of gotten it if I knew about it at the time. So on my phone I am trying not to have any apps but I am using shortcuts/ pwa using Firefox whenever possible. I also use mozilla VPN and pocket for my reading. So basically I am just trying to replicate it lol

@Jeppie, Matrix is a protocol that standardizes instant messaging, like e-mail did to the systems of transmitting digitzed mail that preceded it.

Element is a GUI for that protocol. chat.mozilla.org is a hosted instance of Element. By registering an account, you gain the ability to communicate with every chat application that uses the protocol, and with bridges, even proprietary services such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook Messenger.
