We desperately need the option to have mail marked as having been read when it's deleted or not having it marked as read. This has been suggested before but no option has ever showed up. If I delete hundreds of emails, and one was deleted by accident without having been read, it's so much easier to find it in my deleted folder if it's still marked as not read. Even if I accidentally delete something and then undelete it's marked as read even though I never opened it. We need the option of working one way or the other.

It's important to be able to delete unread mail and it still be marked as unread.

If deleted in error then it's easier to locate unread mail in Trash.

If you immediately click on 'Undo Deleted Message' then email returns to Inbox, but it's auto marked as read when it isn't. If was never automarked as unread then it would still have the original and correct status.

It should be for the user to decide whether an email is marked as read or not.

The arguement that it's distracting for the 'Trash/Deleted' folder to become bold is moot because at anytime the user can right click on folder and choose to mark everything as read.

Do 'marked as read' emails get notified to sender? How do you know if email has an email tracker? Is this something desirable ? Surely the answer is to not auto mark email as read if deleted.
