Making AI Automation Accessible for Non-Technical Community Members

Many Mozilla community members want to help with operations, content moderation, event coordination, and community support, but feel blocked because they don’t have a technical background.

My idea is to introduce a no-code AI automation pathway for non-technical volunteers, using visual tools like n8n and simple AI assistants.

This could include

1.A library of pre-built automation templates (for example: handling community emails, organizing event sign-ups, summarizing meeting notes, and routing support requests)
2.Step-by-step visual guides and videos showing how to customize workflows without writing code.
3.An AI helper that explains what each automation step does in plain language and suggests improvements.
4.This would allow non-technical contributors to support real community operations while learning automation skills at their own pace.

Use Case

A community volunteer with no coding background sets up a workflow to automatically summarize weekly meeting notes, tag them by topic, and share them in the community forum or chat channel.

Impact

1.Expands contribution opportunities beyond developers
2.Reduces repetitive manual work for community leads
3.Encourages skill-building in automation and AI
4.Makes Mozilla’s community more inclusive and scalable
