I am a new user currently in the process of switching my browser from Opera ONE to Firefox. I love the features that Opera offers, but the performance optimization with a large number of tabs, as well as the overwhelming number of bugs causing things like tab flickering or even the entire window flashing, is frustrating, and I’ve had enough. Therefore, adding the AI chat functionality to the sidebar is a great step, but it has a serious flaw. Namely, when we deselect a given icon on the sidebar, the page it opened unfortunately closes its session and starts a new one... I understand that implementing something different could cause some performance issues, but keeping the session of an opened tab alive (even for 10-15 minutes) would be a great solution. Currently, even if we write our own WebExtension for Messenger, Instagram, Facebook, Discord, etc., switching from one platform to another requires reloading the page. So, even in a situation where we had Messenger open for a few minutes and switch to Instagram for a moment, the entire page reloads, and when we go back to Messenger, we have to reload the page again and reselect the conversation. Additionally, this also affects notifications, which cannot be forcefully enabled. In the case of social media, it would be extremely useful to have them always on (meaning enabling persistent notifications in the background for tabs opened in the sidebar). This issue also applies to ChatGPT (and likely other chatbots), which, after temporarily closing the window to free up space or reply to someone on Messenger or Instagram, opens a new conversation with the bot. This is quite frustrating. If there’s any way to work around this, I’d be happy to try it. Additionally, if forum participants are interested, I will try to share my very simple extensions to provide at least partial functionality similar to what can be experienced in Opera or Vivaldi on mozilla extensions store at least until Mozilla releases official support for social media. Of course, I will only do this after reading about the legal requirements, as I currently don’t have much time for that.
