Many people use various tab suspend (or tab discard) addons to minimize Firefox memory usage. These addons use tabs.discard() API in order to unload tabs after set period of inactivity. Since version 123.0 Firefox allows to show tab previews on hover when `browser.tabs.cardPreview.enabled` flag is enabled. However, thumbnails often are not shown for tabs which were previously discarded by 3rd party addons. Would be great if Firefox implemented some mechanism under the hood, which will automatically cache last "active" view of the tab whenever it is requested to be suspended by `tabs.discard()` API, and then show the cached thumbnail on hover. Would also be great if cached version will be returned to 3rd party addons on tabs.captureTab() API requests as well. ... View more

(In Firefox desktop on Windows 11) Some settings like "use autoscrolling" and "use smooth scrolling" aren't very clear what they actually do - it would be good to mouseover and quickly have an explanation of what the setting means in simple English. It would be very nice if we could have Vim Mode natively in Thunderbird. There use to be a plugin some time ago that added the feature but it does not work with newer versions of Thunderbird. I would love to see an infinitely scrollable calendar view in Thunderbird. Two popular applications that already implement this is Apple's Calendar (on both iOS and macOS) and Fastmail's Month View. I especially like Apple's infinitely side-scrolling week view, and as ridiculous as it sounds, this is the primary reason why I haven't switched to Thunderbird yet for my daily use (I am already a passionate, daily Firefox user). It has a lot to do with my specific needs and how I interact with the calendar app, but I imagine this could be helpful for many others. ... View more

I sometimes download a manual in HTML (e.g. the Blender manual). It would be nice if I did not have to adjust the zoom on every page therein from 100% to 150%, for example. It appears that Firefox 115.13.0esr and previous versions remember the zoom per local HTML file by absolute file path. I would like configurable local zoom remembrance by subtree path similar to online domains. A default local zoom other than 100% (as it is now) makes no sense, and I am not asking for such a thing. I am guessing that the best way to provide an explicit zoom-level-by-subtree feature is to have a settings area with a file browser to find and add local subtree roots with a description that says one zoom setting will apply to all HTML files within the subtrees of the listed root directories. ... Idea: add an option to block the annoying "Sign in with Google" prompts that some sites (for example: https://chromestatus.com) use on the mobile versions of Firefox and Firefox Focus. Reasoning: blocking those popups are easier on desktop as extensions like DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials do it automatically and Ublock origin does it but you have to type "||accounts.google.com/gsi/iframe/select$subdocument" (without quotes) into the my filters section, this isn't possible on Firefox Focus as Focus doesn't have any extensions and the "Block other content trackers" feature doesn't block them either. ... After using the quick filter, when you cancel it, the inbox should resort by the preferred sort order previously set up.  Currently, when you cancel the quick filter, the full inbox shows sorted by whatever the quick filter sort was.  For example if I search "smith" under sender, it shows all the "smith" sorted by date (my preference).  When I cancel the quick filter, the full inbox is still sorted by name, even though it's indicating it's sorting by date (little arrow on Date column).  This is a bug. ... Desktop apps and command line tools that provide OAuth links typically don't care which account you're signed into on Firefox when they provide an OAuth link, even if the app itself allows fast-switching between multiple user accounts. It would be more productive to specify which container should open for certain multi-user account platforms (such as Google or GitHub), or… even better, have the container selection dialog open automatically based on the detection of an OAuth link.
