It would be nice to open links from a tab in a group outside this group. E.g. I have a group called WhatsApp, in this group I have two web WhatsApp tabs logged (using containers). When I click on a link in one of these WhatsApp tabs a new tab opens inside this group. It would be nice to have a config "browser.tabs.groups.newtab.out" or something like that. The w3c gamepad specification allows browser to implement remapping of game controllers axis and buttons. Just like how Windows provides a "lock the taskbar" option that prevents you from accidentally resizing the taskbar, Firefox should have a "lock the sidebar" option. If Thunderbird was a Firefox extension, it could use Firefox for HTML composing.  And focus on doing mail. I suggest it actually run more like its own web server (client/server on the same machine), where the Thunderbird process would work through the plugin to interact with the browser (that would allow multiple Firefox profiles to use the same Thunderbird email instance).   This would also allow Thunderbird core to be expanded to be a web based email client. This would also make sure the web pages opened from Thunderbird (like the welcome page) would open in Firefox (and not Edge on Windows). ... View more

There should be another option in the settings that allows Thunderbird to attempt to close automatically after an update is found. At the very least, a red icon should appear in the hamburger menu to indicate that an update has been found. Especially on laptops, this right can run for a long time without Thunderbird ever closing. Solution: - Additional option in the updater settings for updates with automatic closing - For usability reasons, a notification should be sent indicating that a new update has been found, depending on the setting "Ready to install (please close manually)" or (new option) "Thunderbird will close automatically within the next 10 minutes" ... So, just like we have it for AI chat bots, I think it would be great if we could have a tab at the bottom of our sidebar to quickly access E-mail services, like Gmail, ThunderMail or Proton; or, why not, even other services such as Discord or Telegram. I think it would be extremely convenient to always be able to quickly pull out a small E-mail tab, for example to read a code for a log-in, or even more in terms of work and productivity, a lot of people who work a lot with in-browser programs and mails would find that extremely useful ... Feature request: Allow IMAP account to not only mark an email as spam, add sender to IMAP blocklist too.  I have an IMAP account to Google I (am required to) manage in my Thunderbird client.  99/100 emails are simply commercial solicitations.  I can mark them as spam in the client and they get correctly marked as spam on the server.  The issue is, a lot of these emails recently are obnoxiously persistent, where you get an email saying 'we want to talk to you about this topic...' and then as soon as an hour later you get a followup email 'We just wanted to followup from our last email...' and then maybe 4 or 5 different stages of followups over the next day or week and even a month later.   The way I handle this is, I have to jump out of Thunderbird, launch a Web browser, log into the email account, and then both mark as spam and block the sender.   As I get dozens of these as well as nagging-aggressive followups, it's worth my time to block the senders.  ... I am using Thunderbird for a long time. But since it started using add-ons in a way, it has become soooo slow most of the time. I don't know which or what. And I don't have the time nor urge to go look after it, which or what add-on is causing the problem. Yes, one can restart with all add-ons off. But it is bot easy to find to do that. I would simply be able to start Thunderbird without any add-ons. And give me the choice to easily turn add-ons on or off. If this continues to be so slow, I go look for an alternative. ... View more
