When I am reading a very long paper, and I am looking for a specific section, I use the find in page function to look for all sections related to the keyword that I remember. However, sometimes this keyword appears many times in a short span, and I don't want to have to keep cycling through the matches one by one to find the section I'm looking for. Currently the default en-US dictionary used by spellchecker is using a legacy quirk to prevent it flagging other non-Latin languages as misspelled. The dictionary file was encoded in ISO-8859-1 and marked as such. Then the spellchecker will skip feeding words outside ISO-8859-1 to the dictionary. While the quirk works, it is unreasonable to ask every other dictionary maintainers to put their dictionaries in legacy encodings. There ought to be a proper way for dictionary maintainers to specify "hey, my dictionary only care words consist of characters from codepoint x to codepoint y". Right now the quirk is broken whenever one use dictionaries outside the default en-US. So I tried comparing the graphics quality while playing the same video on YouTube on Microsoft Edge and on Zen Browser (firefox-based). I found that when the AI video enhancement feature on Microsoft Edge was turned off and both the browsers were playing the video at the same resolution without any enhancement, Zen browser was actually doing better than Microsoft Edge. The visuals felt much sharper and felt easier to look at on Zen browser. But after the video enhancement feature was turned on in Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Edge became the obvious winner. Hence now, for every time I want to watch a video with more detailed graphics, I have to opt for Microsoft Edge. I don't want to do that. Using Zen Browser has been so delightful for me and I love that it is based on Firefox. I hate having to change the browser just to watch a video with better quality. I wish the Firefox team could build a feasible and well working video enhancement model and build it into Firefox giving users the option to either turn it on or turn it off on videos which are not protected with Digital Rights Management, similarly as in Microsoft Edge. I believe this will easily lead to the Firefox team dunking one on Microsoft Edge and will put Firefox well-forward on its way to create one of the best browser architectures out there. ... At some point, Firefox changed the old behavior of downloading opened files temporarily only, and now all files are saved and kept by default. This pollutes the user home directory with files that the user might not have wanted to keep. Even keeping the current behavior as default, having the option visible in preferences will help users understand the browser behavior. It has received sufficient backlash from the community to be considered. Since it is already in about:config, not much effort would go into officially supporting it, but it would guarantee that the option does not quietly disappear. Now, users unsatisfied with this behavior need to search in the internet for a solution that is not guaranteed to exist in futures releases, when it could be another checkbox in the Files and Applications section in Preferences. There's a message about only installing add-ons if you trust them, but there's no way to actually review the add-on. You can't even download it and open it in your archive manager without first installing and running it in Firefox. Add-ons have their code implicitly readable by their nature. The current structure of bookmarks is very rigid and opinionated, for some reason there is “Unsorted/Other Bookmarks”, “Bookmarks Toolbar” and “Bookmarks Menu”. When clicking the Library button and then Bookmarks, a list of recently added bookmarks is displayed. Recent bookmarks are useful when a bookmark was accidentally saved in the wrong folder and cannot be found. However, I prefer having separate Bookmarks and History buttons on the toolbar without the library button (and Firefox allows to customize the toolbar according to personal preferences), but the standalone Bookmarks button dropdown lacks recent bookmarks. I'm a mostly uninformed user that's been using vertical tabs via. the Tree Style Tabs extension for a long while before vers. 137. When I heard about the new native vertical tabs I excitedly switched and removed TST, only to find out that native vertical tabs did not have trees. I redownloaded TST and it's working fine, but there's a small strip that houses nothing but the ability to turn on TST and access to sidebar settings.
