I've worked in two companies where customers will send us photos for warranty claims etc. If the photos are sent at a high resolution they'll be huge in Thunderbird and go off the right side of the page. You then have to open them in a separate program to view them in a fit-to-screen scenario. I think this is when the photos are sent as attachments. Under Settings > Composition > HTML Style I have Font set to Courier as I find it the easiest to spot typing errors in and it also has a comprehensive set of glyphs.  Despite this Thunderbird does it’s best to switch it to ‘Variable Width.’ If I copy text from a previously sent message that was itself in Courier and paste it into the Composition window it will paste as Variable Width.  If I use Insert > HTML and then resume normal typing that too will be in Variable Width. I do not have Return Receipt activated by default because it is not needed (and is annoying) for most emails, but on more official messages I manually turn it on. Unfortunately Thunderbird does not provide an indicator on the Sent email that allows to confirm if a Return Receipt was requested. Would it be possible to add one? ... View more

Please improve message filter creation. Current process is very rudimentary. We should be able to right click on a message to create a filter. When going through my email, I often encounter individual messages and message threads. These two different message types have different button bars displayed. I often review my mail in a session, and it would be very useful if I could keep my mouse in the same location to quickly delete either. I am posting this in context of the new version of Thunderbird.  There have been requests for this in thepast, which I presume have gone ignored. Having a confirm-before-quit option would be very helpful.  Other applications have already adopted this some time ago; Mozilla Firefox does it.   Particularly, on MacOS, it's easy to fat-finger CMD+Q vs CMD+W (close window).  Is there a good reason why this isn't an option now in Thunderbird or why it hasn't been considered?  Is it complicated to implement?   ... Could we please have an action in the context menu of calendar entries which is effectively a shortcut to move the end time of a meeting to the current time? The option should probably always appear, but be grayed out by default. It should only be enabled/clickable in the case that: the start date of the calendar entry is in the past. the user has write-access to the calendar entry. This means the button can be used to: It'll be enabled for current events that are ongoing as far as Thunderbird is concerned. It will move the end time of the event to the current time, ending the meeting early and opening up the time slot. (My use case.) It'll be enabled for past events that have already finished, and it will move the end time of the event to the current time, extending the meeting. (To track overrun meetings.) This isn't a major time saver, but just a minor affordance that makes it more convenient to open up booked time slots if the meeting finished quicker than expected. It would be helpful to be able to zoom in and out of the agenda view in thunderbird desktop. Or at least enable to select a range of hours that define the view of the agenda that fits the screen. Currently the options (in Preferences) are 1) Preview in thunderbird 2) Always ask (which leads to an 'Open in...' or 'Save' submenu 3) Save file Most of the time option 1 is fine.
