Enhanced Security: Run Firefox in a Container

For enhanced security, I'd like to be able to run Firefox in a container. So it and any downloads would be isolated from the OS. If there is a malicious site or download such as a corrupted PDF, the OS would be safe. All I'd need to do is shut down Firefox and then restart it.

Hi! I work on Firefox Security professionally and I don't run Firefox in a container. I want to gently encourage you that you can use the browser without any kind of extra isolation.

We already built a sandbox around the web content and run the tab at much lower privileges than any other typical application. Specifically for PDF, we have implemented a PDF viewer that is written in JavaScript and HTML, two memory-safe languages. Our PDF viewer has a very positive track record in terms of security issues in comparison with any other PDF viewer out there. If you use our built-in PDF viewer, you should be good.
