Firefox Mobile (for Android), especially on Tablets, desperately needs the Desktop view Setting as an Toggle default option, with the choice of enabling it or disabling for the current website.

Reason for that is, that during the usage on Samsung DeX (I'd like to imagine that this is a rather neglected part of usage for many developers), the app is basically displayed as a mobile site like it was if it were to be in pop view, which is alright on mobile devices, but on Tablets, it's a necessity to set them straight as Desktop Windows.

Samsung own Browser has the ability to default into Desktop View, the only drawback is that the pinch zoom can't be disabled. It's possible, and I do believe it shouldn't take long for implementation.

(In the Screenshot provided it detects if it's in DeX mode or not, which isn't what I mean. A simple toggle would basically be this feature)

Desktop mode by default

You're losing users right now!

I find mobile web design reprehensible. Absolutely unusable.

But I'm not going to toggle the switch everytime I open the app. Everytime I refresh the page. Every time I go to a new site. I'm going to switch to literally any other browser which has a persistant desktop mode.

I'm sure a significant quantity of users would use a persistant desktop mode option. Some (like me) require it. Others are probably willing to use mobile sites, but unhappy about it.

You've already lost me as a user. If you act soon, you can stop losing others.

So desktop mode has been made the default but we cannot go back to mobile view. The choice should be left to the user. A toggle for default view is still missing.

Upon installing Firefox (Android) 133 recently on my phone (not tablet), I discovered the "always request desktop site" setting under site settings.  Literally, words cannot describe my level of exuberant joy and heartfelt gratitude at the realization that this feature had at long last been returned to the Firefox mobile app:

All I get is mobile view regardless of whether I set 'Always request desktop site' in Site Settings, or use the Settings menu toggle switch for 'Desktop Site'.

This makes Firefox unusable for me on my Tablet.

I use Firefox across all devices, synchronised, and have used Firefox for over 10 years.

I don't want to, but I now have to move to Chrome as it works (and therefore so can I).

Firefox: 133.0 (Build #2016057495), hg-8141aab3ba85+
GV: 133.0-20241121140525
AS: 133.0

On Samsung Tab S7+

Android Version 13, One UI 5.1.1

I hope this gets a proper fix eventually, I'll come back to Firefox if it does.
