Click on unread messages counter to highlight those particular messages

When the various message folders show an unread count, I would like to be able to click on the number on the counter and have all messages highlighted. This is particularly useful in a message folder has quite a lot of messages because it is a real chore to sift through all the emails to find, let's say, one or two unread ones.
