While you can copy or use a Firefox profile in other copies of Firefox and perhaps Beta, Nightly, or Dev Edition, an issue is when you use a profile from an older Firefox version in a newer one, then you can't use the profile in the older Firefox. It usually takes a long time to move addon data to or from Firefox Forks including Floorp and Zen Browser. Allowing imports from other Firefox profiles in the "Import data from another browser" UI, would help with both of those.

I just came to post this same suggestion.  The ability to import data from another Firefox profile during the creation of a new one would be awesome.

A "New Profile Wizard" that lets users start fresh while seamlessly carrying over what matters most.

  1. Bookmarks: Select specific bookmarks or bring them all over.
  2. Containers: For users who’ve painstakingly set up privacy and workflow boundaries, this would be a game-changer.
  3. Passwords: Because re-entering credentials feels so... pre-Firefox 57.

Use Cases:

  • Users troubleshooting corrupted profiles can create a pristine setup while retaining critical data.
  • Multi-profile pros can quickly set up work, personal, or testing environments without starting from scratch.
  • Privacy-conscious users can refresh their browsing experience while keeping their containers intact.
