Hey there! Currently, each bookmark can only be stored *once*. That's actually really annoying if you are well-organized!

I am an academic teaching multiple courses each year. So I have a really well-structured bookmark folder structure. Since many courses are taught each year, some of the links remain the same (like online platforms that don't change each year). So of course these links should occur in *each* year (i.e., in multiple bookmark folders) and not just one of them.

So, please, allow websites (bookmarks) to occur in multiple folders!

Hello,

I can suggest something like:

If you add "?" at the end of any URL websites ignore "?" and after.

The following 3 URLs will also go to the same page:

https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/happiness_tip_stop_checking_your_freaking_phone

https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/happiness_tip_stop_checking_your_freaking_phone?2022

https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/happiness_tip_stop_checking_your_freaking_phone?2023-s...

You can create separate bookmarks for each link.

Hope that help. Good Day!

@ProfChaos @ansiklopedici @Jon Hi all! How are you guys? So... I think about it, what do you guys think of this idea?

@ProfChaos @ansiklopedici @Jon Hi! How are you guys? What do you guys think of this idea or concept? I need everyone's opinion!

In summary the concept would be:

  1. Avoid duplicate bookmarks
  2. Tag system instead of a folder system for bookmarks
  3. Fields(note, color, type, tags, location, collection, name, keyword).
  4. Fields tags, location, type and name are filled in automatically.
  5. Location field is only done by labels(tags) like Gmail system, not done by folders(treeview) - treeview is just the view of labels(tags). This allows for a system of workspaces instead of folders
  6. Option to export bookmarks as csv, bibtext, markdown(table), sql or json in Mozilla Firefox.
  7. Search bookmarks in Mozilla Firefox as Evernote search system.
  8. Alphabetize Bookmarks

I pretty much don't mind as long as bookmarks don't only appear in a single folder. 🙂

Hi there, I'm new on this New idea page & I want to do the same like @ProfChaos. Now I'm very curious if the great hack provided by @ansiklopedici will work.
Not knowing this, I have figured out another way to intentionally create duplicate bookmarks, which I will post right below.
NB: In Firefox Mobile Firefox for Android 🦊, bookmarks are allowed to have exactly identical names, there will be no name conflict error.

💡🦊 Creating a bookmark duplicate in Firefox Mobile Firefox for Android 🦊
NB: Procedures in [square brackets] below are procedures you will find described step-by-step in the Firefox for Android help in moz://a Support.

1) Open a new tab and visit the web page you want to bookmark.
2) [Add a bookmark] for the page in the desired bookmark folder.
3) Open a second, new tab, view an arbitrary web page (like a newspaper article) and add a bookmark for it in the root bookmark folder.
4) Important: CLOSE this second tab.
5) Switch to the first bookmarked page/tab.
6) Tap  ... > *Bookmarks   *Edit.
7) The Edit bookmark page will be shown. In the field URL, copy the URL to the clipboard.
😎 Go to the tabs view, tap + and open an additional, empty tab.
9) Tap  ... > *Bookmarks.
10) Browse to the secondly added bookmark in the bookmarks root folder. (It will be at the bottom of the list.)
11) To the right of this bookmark, tap on the 3 vertical dots ... and then in the popup list box on Edit.
12) The Edit bookmark page will be shown. In the field URL, paste the URL from the clipboard.
13) In the field NAME, change the bookmark name as desired. It can even be exactly the same name as the original bookmark!
14) In the upper right corner, tap the checkmark icon ☑️  to save the current settings. The duplicate bookmark is now created.
14) [Move the duplicate bookmark] to the desired location in the Bookmarks structure.
