Add button "Translate" for specified word

Hello there! I think, that it will be useful - add button called by right-click mouse "Translate". User can make translate one or more words/sentenses without translate all page.

Maybe it will be better to make little pop-up window, that say definition of translated word in OS installed language. For example - OS installed language is Spanish and user wants to translate English word "meal" to Spanish.

User highlited it and use right-click on mouse or long-tap on Android and see pop-up window, that translate word and describes it in Spanish. (like in popular translating services)

We are planning to include this in a future version of the feature, but don't have a timeline just yet. We'll update this thread when there are more concrete plans - stay tuned.

Word translation

Right now we have the full-page client-side translator.

It'd be awesome to do the same for individual words we have selected.

Simply select the word and click Translate.

Please add this.

We are working on this feature, you can follow the progress on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1855907.

We hope to have a first version of it in Firefox 126 or more realistically 127.

The translation feature built-in/integrated into FF isn't coming from "Firefox Translations" add-on project?

I was thinking they were about the same things, but they dont have the same list of languages so they dont seems to.

Are they totally different things? I'm a bit confused.

@Raziel  the built-in feature is an evolution of the addon, the models are currently the same (except a couple which weren't good enough) but there will be more coming soon.
