It would be helpful to have a built in one click button that can be used to automatically report a website that isn't compatible with Firefox to Mozilla and/or Webcompat

I'd recommend you subscribe to https://github.com/mozilla/webcompat-team-okrs/issues/192#issuecomment-775096103, but since it's closed and because of https://github.com/mozilla/webcompat-team-okrs/issues/192#issuecomment-775096103, I don't know whether this has been abandoned.

The tracking issue you linked to was from an old project back in 2021 - where we moved the existing reporter to a different place in the user interface. That reporter is still there; it's placed in the hamburger menu under "Help" -> "Report site issue...". Note that this functionality is currently only available to pre-release versions (Firefox Nightly and Beta).

However, in the context of this issue, I have some exciting news to share!

We're currently actively working on an entirely new reporting and report-handling mechanism, and the new reporter will be available to anyone, even Firefox Release users!

I can't share a precise timeline yet, but we're planning to roll out an experiment soon. I'll share an update here as soon as we've rolled this out to a broader audience.

Thanks for your patience and interest over time here. I appreciate y'all's willingness to report broken websites to us - and to us, knowing about broken websites is very important. So if we ship something to all Firefox users, we want to get this right, and it's taking quite a bit of effort to make sure a reporting feature matches our and your expectations.

Hi, everyone!

Thank you, @ADGrimes, for your idea! I'm very happy to say that we are delivering a web compatibility reporting tool directly built into Firefox to 100% of users next Tuesday (20 Feb) with version 123! 🎉

While it's not a one-click menu, you can file a report in 3 steps. Once the feature becomes available with the Firefox 123 update next week, all you need to do is access Report Broken Site from three menus:

  • Help Menu
  • Hamburger Menu (The icon with three vertically stacked lines to the far right of the address bar), or
  • Enhanced Tracking Protections Panel (The shield icon to the left of the address bar)

This will open a report panel that auto-populates the URL of the site you're currently on--although you will be able to edit the URL in case you want to hide potentially sensitive information (such as a USPS delivery tracking page). All you need to do next is select an issue category for the compatibility problem you're experiencing and select "Send." If you want to directly share more details about the problem, please do so in the optional comments field at the bottom of the report panel. Our team directly receives any information you'd like to share.

We're planning the next stages to improve this feature, and we hope to follow up on Connect once they are cemented. In the meantime, please let us know if you have any questions/feedback as you try the feature next week. Thank you, all, for your patience!!!

This was delivered in Firefox 123 🎉

For more info on the feature, check out @kkim's recent comment in the thread.

As always, let us know what you think and keep on sharing ideas to improve the Firefox experience.

I have just downloaded and installed Firefox 123.0. The new ""Web Compatibility Reporting Tool" has no menus that allow anyone to access the new tool 'Reporting Tool'. Is this an oversight/bug in the release?

P.S. I started a thread on this here as BuddhaNature you can read it for a bit more detail: How to Access "Web Compatibility Reporting Tool"?

For confirmation of this issue with Firefox 123.0 see also this thread: "Report broken site" entry doesn't show in Firefox 123 menu...

If you have disabled telemetry, the new reporter will not show up. This is by design and has to be that way, as the reporter sends its data via our Telemetry data pipeline.
