Firefox Team,

Please improve the process of switching between user profiles to be more like Google Chrome's system. The current method is difficult.

I suggest adding:

• A profile selector that appears when the browser starts.

• A quick-switch button in the top-right corner of the toolbar to easily change profiles.

This would make managing Personal and Work accounts much smoother and more intuitive.

@Jon I think the idea proposed by Mou96x on the quick-switch in Firefox  is slightly different from the other similar suggestions.

The quick-switch request focuses on reducing the number of clicks needed to switch between profiles. At the moment, it takes three clicks to open a new profile for the first time, which then launches a new Firefox instance. This could easily be reduced to two clicks if the available profiles were listed directly in the menu that opens when clicking the profile icon.

Currently, that menu feels cluttered, and the most useful option, the profile management feature, is hidden inside a submenu.

When switching between already open profiles, there are two options:

• The same multi-click method mentioned above, or
• Using the Windows taskbar, which still requires two clicks, since the two Firefox profiles don’t appear separately. Grouping is enabled by default in Windows and generally usefull.

Solutions:

1. Improve profile switching directly within Firefox, or

2. Make sure each profile can be pinned individually to the taskbar. That way, users could truly switch between profiles with a single click.

The “Profile Selector” mentioned here seems more in line with the concept described in Firefox Profile Chooser Concept. I am seeing this is already being adressed in nightly.
