linux was going to allow us to get away from proprietary operating systems and all the code bloat that made them slow. It was going to show how community co-operation was better than the corporate profit motive.
The latest Ubuntu is not merely slow. It simply doesn't work. Firefox cannot open even a few tabs of text without freezing the whole OS, while Thunderbird locks up the machine for ten minutes!
All those millions of lines of code have resulted in an OS which is simply unusable, a technology which is useless. Nerds with the latest and most expensive tech writing software that only runs with the latest and most expensive tech is not clever. FOUR GIGABYTES OF RAM ought to be enough to view a few web pages and send an email for crying out loud!
