After updating on iOS to v116.0 two days ago all open tabs from v115.1 were auto-closed. Well, all URLs were still in the history.
I re-opened about 12 to 15 tabs and added a few new. When I opened FF iOS yesterday morning all tabs were closed again – but the corresponding URLs still in history.
I kept 5 tabs opened since then. When I opened FF iOS this morning these 5 tabs were still opened. When I opened FF iOS about 7 hrs later these tabs were auto-closed again.
I am used to not use the „Close all tabs“ button. I never used it, thus I won‘t use it by accident with accidentally confirming it three times in about 56 hrs.
I saw in the release notes for v116 the description “- Fixed an issue where Firefox reopens already closed tabs“

Or maybe a syncing issue? My FF on Mac was open when I opened FF iOS this noon and when I recognised that the tabs were closed the third time I saw in the desktop sidebar that this empty status was already synced…

I’m seeing this exact same behavior. I’m so pissed off I never close my tabs for a reason and yesterday I suddenly lost all the ones I had. I Tought it was a fluke and blamed it on iOS update but today again lost all the tabs I had open yesterday. Same thing is happening again exactly as you described in v116 im in iOS 16.6
This is a complete dealbreaker and will very likely make me drop this browser on all devices.

It appears that after updating to Firefox iOS version 116.0, you've experienced a recurring issue where open tabs are being auto-closed, even though the corresponding URLs remain in the history. This behavior is contrary to your usual practice of not using the "Close all tabs" button and not confirming it accidentally. The release notes for v116 mention a fix for reopening already closed tabs, which might be related. There could be syncing issues at play, especially considering your open tabs on Mac were also affected. You might want to ensure your synchronization settings are correctly configured and consider reaching out to Firefox support for further assistance in resolving this persistent tab-closing issue.

I lost a bunch overnight during the weekend and sorta convinced myself I accidentally tapped the trash bin (not considering it's hard to accidentally tap the confirmation afterward...). Now I lost everything AGAIN in the few seconds I switched to a messaging app. I really didn't want to have to find a new browser 😞

The issue still persists after updating to Firefox 116.1 (33291) and isn’t related to sync settings. Firefox just randomly closes all tabs. This is a serious issue that must be fixed.

Upd. 2023-09-03: Same issue after updating to version 117.0.

I lost 60+ tabs the first time this happened, and then a bunch more when I figured it was a one off bug. This is so frustrating, i don’t think I can continue using Firefox if this isn’t fixed soon

I’m having the same issue. Now when it happens, I can find my tabs in my history and know what was open because I opened them within the last 72 hours. The first timed, I lost half of the tabs I had open because they were so far back in my history I couldn’t find them. I leave tabs open for a reason. I figured out how to deal with the reopening issue on my own and it took 2 seconds. This issue is a much bigger inconvenience. What’s the point of me leaving tabs open if they’re going to be randomly closed anyways? I updated the app to fix problems not cause bigger ones. Guess I didn’t look hard enough for reasons to wait to update. The last time there was an issue like this it gave me a reopen all tabs option because it thought the app crashed. This time I have to find every single tab in my history and it takes forever.

Same problem here, just lost all open tabs overnight.
For anyone else who has a backup: The tabs.db in the Shared/group.org.mozilla.ios.Firefox/profile.profile folder seems to be what contains all open tabs, but there are too many entries in my case and I didn't look into how to discern them yet. If someone has more info on that, that would be great!
Unfortunately for me, I use the private mode quite extensively as well, mostly just as another "tab view" since I can't switch profiles on iOS, and I'm not sure how/if these are included in a backup. I'd be really grateful for information on how they're handled!

I too on multiple instances lose the last session. Happens both when starting computer as well as not shutting down computer but closing just Firefox then reopening it. Windows 11.

Sounds like an entirely different problem, hopefully you report it somewhere correct
