Thunderbird app on Android is slow and unresponsive

I am a Thunderbird fan and I have recently installed the TB app on my Android cellphone.
I am quite disappointed by the slow response in loading and updating messages.
Compared to Gmail app, it is really frustrating.
Any comment or hint I can use to make it more usable?

Sad there is zero response to your reasonable observation and request. I too am a 25 year lover of Thunderbird on my PC. It is hard to believe the Android version is so deficient. Apart from your noted slowness it has absolutely no add-ons, no html in signatures or anywhere else, and no way to sync it with Google Calendar. I am sure there are other deficiencies but these are the ones that directly affect me. I continue to hope that features emerge that are routinely provided by more obscure email apps.
