Please reduce Firefox update frequency. Keep security updates, but fewer regular updates

I understand that security updates are important, and I absolutely want Firefox to continue installing important security fixes as soon as they are needed.

However, the current frequency of regular Firefox updates has become very frustrating. It feels like Firefox is constantly asking to update or restart, and this is especially annoying while I am working.

The previous update frequency felt much more reasonable. Frequent regular updates interrupt workflows and create unnecessary distraction, especially for people who use Firefox throughout the entire workday.

Please consider giving users an option to receive security updates immediately while limiting regular feature updates to a monthly schedule.

I've just had this same issue as you. Forced to update Firefox in the middle of deep work. However, a good alternative would be to turn off the automatic install of updates.
There's an option to select if you want automatic updates or would like to choose when to install in the Firefox preferences page.

Thanks for the suggestion about changing the update settings and disabling automatic updates. I appreciate it, and it may be a good solution for other people reading this thread.

Personally, though, I do not want to disable updates or manage them manually. I would simply prefer Firefox to keep the update schedule that users have been accustomed to for years: one regular release approximately every four weeks, rather than weekly or two-weekly releases.

Of course, if there is a critical security vulnerability that requires an urgent fix, I absolutely want Mozilla to release that update immediately. My issue is with the large number of regular updates and feature changes, especially when they interrupt my work.

For me, the previous four-week schedule was a much better balance between security, stability and usability.

I probably will not use the workaround of disabling updates. If the current update frequency continues to cause too much frustration in the future, I will most likely switch to another browser instead. The amount of forced updating is becoming disruptive enough that it is affecting my willingness to keep using Firefox.

In fact, this issue bothered me enough that I specifically created a Mozilla Connect account just to start this discussion. I normally would not go through that effort for a minor annoyance, so I hope that gives some indication of how disruptive the new update frequency has become for me.
