Home screen icons have shrunk again May 2026

This issue was addressed previously, and I tried that solution, but it has no effect.

Previous solution: go to browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant

and change values to false. This doesn't work anymore. Is there something else I can try?

The shrinking and crowding of home screen shortcut icons is a result of the revamped Firefox Home layout introduced in Firefox 151. Mozilla altered the element spacing to accommodate upcoming widgets, which rendered the older configurations obsolete. To revert this layout and restore the previous icon sizes, type into your address bar, accept the warning, and search for the preference

This video is terrible. There are no instructions either in voice-over or in the notes. I prefer to copy and paste so I don't have to flip back and forth making typos.
