Why did te last upate remove the UI I had?

I disabled nimbus as posts suggest, to revert to the better/compact UI we had before. I disabled the new features, testing, data collection, improvements settings. it used to work, now I get weird big tabs and my buttons are gone. I can't quickly click them anymore. does anybody have a fix please. I've been told they made it permanent now? but it's quite obvious not many like the new UI as well? why the forcing? is it the funding from higher up telling them the make the app subjectively worse? I'll downgrade for now but please let me know if and when this will be resolved.

What's crazy is I did all of this secret settings stuff to bring back the old ui and I've refused to update at all (still 148) and this morning the new menu ui actually came back. ???

Okay, I downgraded with apkmirror to 147.0.2

Log back in, redo all your settings as you liked them. Enable the secret menu again.

Turn off nimbus, composable toobar, and tab manager enhancements.

Turn off the data collection bits.

(Go to accessibility and toggle it off auto-screen, I've found this makes the pages/settings not big)

That should allow the old menu and bookmarks editor (fully extended) to come back.

Read this carefully lol

1) TURN OFF AUTO UPDATES THRU THE PLAY STORE.

2) Open your desktop browser for Firefox and keep it up just to reassure yourself.

Your bookmarks on mobile will act like they're not there, but I think btwn the different versions and needing to repopulate them, it just takes 5-10 minutes.

The syncing might be grayed out for that long. As long as your desktop has everything, you should be fine and they'll come back to mobile.

It handles a little slower, I won't lie. There's a slight delay on both Bookmarks and the editor for them. But it's still all there. Just takes a couple seconds longer to catch up.

this us exactly what I ended up doing. though, I went down to 148.0.2 which allows for the original/good/non-grandpa-accesability-reading-mode tabs and UI.

I had to use Brave browser for a second while FF was uninstalled, and it's UI is so beautiful, just like firefox's used to be, way back when.

it's clear ff is not non-profit anymore as those with money force changes absolutely nobody asked for nor wanted. sad. at least there's the older versions to fallback on.
