Hello,

I’m experiencing an issue in Mozilla Thunderbird when composing an email.

When I start writing a message and then change the sender identity (the “From” address), the entire content of the message is immediately erased. The draft cannot be recovered, even if I switch back to the original sender address or try using undo (Ctrl + Z).

This results in a complete loss of the message content, which is quite problematic.

Steps to reproduce:

Start composing a new email

Write some text in the message body

Change the sender identity (“From” field)

The message content disappears instantly

Expected behavior:
The message content should remain intact when changing the sender identity.

Actual behavior:
The message content is erased and cannot be recovered.

Environment:

OS: Windows 11

Thunderbird version: latest version 140.9.0 esr 64bits

Could you please confirm if this is a known issue or a bug, and whether there is a workaround?

Thank you.
Mitch

I can't reproduce that behavior. You could file a bug at https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi/ for that. If you do, please post the link to it here.
