As an ZarchiverAPK user on Android 12, I support the idea of retaining buffered video when changing quality in Firefox. This would prevent playback interruptions while multitasking between apps and help save mobile data. Additionally, restoring the in-app feedback option would make it much easier to report issues without searching through external forums. These improvements would benefit both power users and casual users alike.

feature request: Enhanced Video Quality Switching & Feedback Option Integration for Firefox Android

Dear Firefox Android Development Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to propose two enhancements aimed at improving user experience on #Mobile-Android.

1. Enhanced Video Quality Switching:::

Overview:
I propose the adoption and refinement of a video streaming feature currently observed in the YouTube mobile app. This feature preserves buffered video data when the user selects a different quality—whether moving to a lower quality (e.g., from 240p to 144p) or a higher quality (e.g., from 240p to 360p). Instead of immediately discarding the buffered content, the player continues using it until the user triggers a playback change (such as seeking forward or backward). At that point, the player switches seamlessly to the new quality.

Step-by-Step User Experience:

1. Initial Playback:
The user begins watching a video at a set quality (e.g., 240p) with buffered segments ensuring uninterrupted playback.

2. Quality Change Selection:
The user selects a new video quality (either lower or higher).
The browser continues using the already buffered data without flushing it immediately.

3. Continued Playback:
The video plays in the original quality using the buffered segments, ensuring a smooth viewing experience.

4. Triggering the Transition:
Upon a user action like seeking forward or backward (e.g., skipping 10 seconds), the player fetches new segments in the newly selected quality.

5. Post-Transition:
Playback resumes in the chosen quality, maintaining continuity and efficiency for future changes.

Benefits:
Seamless Viewing: Minimizes interruptions by retaining buffered data until a natural playback cue occurs, especially for #Mobile-Android users.

Data Efficiency: Avoids unnecessary rebuffering, which conserves data usage on #Mobile-Android.

Uniform Experience: Ensures consistent playback quality transitions across all #Firefox platforms for #Video playback.

2. Feedback Option Integration:::

I have also observed that the latest version of #Mobile-Android does not include a feedback option in the settings—a tool typically essential for users, especially those less familiar with technical details, to report issues or suggest improvements for #Firefox on #Mobile-Android. This absence is unexpected, as it restricts user engagement and the collection of valuable insights for #FirefoxMobile #Design.

Request:
Reintroduce the Feedback Option: Please add a user-friendly feedback feature in the settings menu in future updates for #Mobile-Android.

Consistency Across Devices: Ensure that this feedback mechanism is implemented uniformly across all #Firefox platforms (Android, Windows, etc.), so that all users have an easy avenue to contribute to improvements and provide #user-feedback.

---

Thank you for considering these proposals. I am confident that these enhancements will significantly improve the user experience of #FirefoxMobile by ensuring smoother #Video playback and enabling more robust #user-feedback. I would be happy to discuss these ideas further or provide additional details if needed.

Best regards,
Ndj

@Zuzia @C_wyd @joeldadrummer @jd @JeffG1 @manthisispain @mcgilbdd @brochard @navek @FabJuni

Great suggestions! Enhancing video quality switching would definitely improve the streaming experience, and bringing back the feedback option would make it easier for users to share insights. Hope the Firefox team considers these updates!

These proposals for Firefox Android—especially the buffered quality retention during video playback—are insightful! Seamless transitions between resolutions could reduce mobile data strain, similar to adaptive streaming optimizations seen in platforms like youcine. Integrating such logic would benefit users on limited connections. Additionally, reintroducing a unified feedback tool aligns with fostering community-driven improvements, a strategy many modern apps employ to refine UX.

Hi @ndj_11,

First, I just want to say what a well-articulated and thoughtful feature request this is. You've not only outlined the pain points with the current system but also backed it up with a logical, step-by-step enhancement plan that makes a lot of sense, especially for mobile users on limited data plans.

Enhanced Video Quality Switching

I absolutely agree with the idea of buffering preservation when switching video quality. This approach, as seen on the YouTube mobile app, provides a smoother user experience and avoids the frustration of abrupt interruptions—something that’s especially critical for streaming platforms and content-heavy apps.

As someone who runs a website that focuses on streaming and entertainment tech, Magis TV constantly hears from readers who are dealing with quality drops or rebuffering when they switch video settings on mobile browsers. Implementing your proposal could give Firefox Android a competitive edge in the streaming experience department.

Feedback Option Integration

You’re spot on about the feedback option being an essential part of user interaction. Not having it easily accessible in the settings limits the everyday user from reporting bugs or sharing helpful suggestions. It’s often the non-technical users who encounter edge cases, and without an intuitive way to share feedback, those insights are lost. A simple feedback toggle or even a direct link within the settings could go a long way.

Overall, these two suggestions reflect real-world usage challenges and offer practical, easy-to-implement solutions. Thanks again for taking the time to break it all down so clearly—looking forward to seeing how the Firefox team responds!

Best regards,
Magis TV Team

https://mymagistv.com.co/

Really well thought out post! You explained the issues and possible fixes perfectly — especially the part about keeping the buffer when switching video quality. That’s one of those small details that makes a huge difference in real-world use. Anyone who watches videos on mobile knows how annoying it is when the whole thing re-buffers just because you changed the resolution.

I also totally agree about the feedback option. It’s surprising how hidden it is right now. Having a quick “Send Feedback” button in the settings would make it way easier for everyday users to report bugs or share ideas without digging around.

Overall, awesome suggestions that actually make sense for mobile users. Hope the Firefox team gives this a serious look!

Cheers,
[Lucas Almeida]

I think you not understand.

This is all about general improvement for video playback not implemented what is already available there and other browser also gives this but in firefox this is must requirement.

You can experience in youtube app that suddenly the video quality is not going to change even if user dose its required some triggers to apply now and replace loading by changed quality.

High to low quality change is still ok if browser use already loaded high quality video instead of sudden replacement of low quality by removing already loaded high quality video.

But in reverse case they use required to add some triggers like Making video forward or backward 10 seconds.

I experienced this in youtube app.

So this is going thing what they all should apply.

These proposals for seamless buffering and integrated feedback are excellent examples of how user-centric design can significantly reduce friction in the digital experience. In a mobile-first world, technical performance must align perfectly with user expectations to ensure long-term retention.

For businesses and developers looking to implement this same level of high-performance strategy into their own platforms, 514 Digital specializes in optimizing digital ecosystems to be as efficient and user-friendly as possible. Whether it is refining video delivery or enhancing interface feedback, focusing on these "micro-moments" of the user journey is what truly drives growth and engagement in 2026.

Keeping buffered content until a natural playback action feels like a smart, user-friendly approach, and bringing back a built-in feedback option would also help users easily share issues and ideas. These improvements would greatly benefit anyone who relies on smooth mobile streaming experiences, similar to what users expect when using apps like InatBox TV download for uninterrupted and flexible video playback on Android.

While using Jio Game on Android I noticed performance drops and reloads when changing game settings. This interrupts gameplay and affects the overall experience

I suggest that Jio Game should continue using already loaded game data and apply new settings only after a user action such as restarting a match. This would improve stability and reduce lag

Also Jio Game currently lacks a clear in app feedback option. Adding a simple feedback feature in settings would help users report issues and share suggestions easily

These improvements would make Jio Game smoother more efficient and more user friendly

Thank you for considering this request

This is a well-explained suggestion, especially the idea of keeping buffered video when switching quality, which would make streaming smoother and more practical for everyday users. Adding a simple feedback option in settings is also important because it helps users feel heard and improves the platform over time. Small, user-focused improvements like these show how thoughtful design can enhance overall experience. The same principle applies in Dubai interior design, where careful planning and smart solutions create spaces that truly support daily life. Companies like Atech Interiors LLC follow this user-first approach by offering complete interior design and renovation services across Dubai, ensuring that both residential and commercial spaces are functional, modern, and designed around real user needs.

¡Excelente propuesta! El cambio fluido de calidad de video recuerda a los numeros en Morse, donde cada número tiene una combinación precisa de puntos y rayas que transmite su significado solo cuando la secuencia está completa.

Firefox Android currently lacks intuitive video quality controls, forcing users to rely on third-party players like YoCine APK Pro or platform-specific settings. Implementing adaptive video quality switching would allow users to manually select resolutions (144p–4K) based on network conditions, reducing buffering and data consumption. This feature should include an auto-mode that intelligently adjusts quality in real time.

Additionally, integrating a native feedback option — accessible via a simple toolbar button — would let users report playback issues, UI bugs, or performance lags directly to Mozilla. Combined, these enhancements would elevate Firefox Android's media experience, boost user retention, and accelerate iterative development through actionable community-driven insights — bringing it closer to the standard set by apps like YoCine APK Pro.
