I have disabled all of the search options except my browsing history in an attempt to get my url bar to actually show the thing I have previously typed in and autocomplete those. The default item is now whatever firefox is suggesting from partners. Any partner/suggestion options I can control are disabled in settings. Still yet, if I want to return to my recipes on flavorish, typing recipes (which did work) starts to autocomplete recipetineats, then recipesmentor which means I have to keep typing out names to get past all suggestions and autocomplete based on MY history. I get having partners and sponsors, but the one thing I want to work right is defaulting to autocomplete my visited sites when I try to type in a url so that autocomplete is actually auto completing. It's pretty useless otherwise. Those suggestions don't go away until I also disable the only remaining thing checked in firefox suggest or search suggestion sections, which is browser history.

"Currently" ? This post says we are still 3 weeks away: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/undo-whatever-changes-in-the-address-bar-autocomplete-system/m-p/115832#M45222

This is an insanely bothersome bug that should be rolled out sooner, especially given the warnings against and difficulties with installing older versions. I just might have to do it anyway, because this has been nothing but maddening since updating yesterday.
