Hello Firefox team,

I am a "Windows 7" enthusiast. My original Windows 7 installation dates back to "12/2010" on an Intel X58 platform with "Intel Core i7 920" CPU and SATA hard drives. Over the past few years I managed to finally upgrade my original installation to a modern AMD X670E platform with "AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D" CPU and NVMe SSDs, Geforce RTX 3070. It took a lot of hacking with the help of the community to get everything working with this modern hardware. Firefox's ESR 115 Windows7 support is essential for my system. That's why I donate to the Mozilla Foundation every month. Please keep working on Windows 7 support. There is a hard core of "Windows 7" users who absolutely need Firefox ESR for "Windows 7".

Kind regards,
Stephan

Mozilly forum update: 2/22/26
Windows 7 was released middle of 2009, and was sold until middle of 2020,
then Windows 8 and 8.1 were sold from 2012 through early 2023. So the
number of Windows 7, 8, 8.1 systems were sold for roughly 14 years. That
is the number of users that have come to rely on FIREFOX as a browser over
the Windows Explorer internet access. We came to like it better than the
Windows supported browsers during those years. Many of those that bought
new systems during those 14 years are still relying on them and the
software we came to depend on. Firefox was the choice of many users, and
still is. That is 14 years of home users that came to rely on Firefox.
Please don't abandon us.

From the link above:

Mozilla will provide security updates for Firefox 115 ESR until the end of August 2026. It was previously announced that support would end in February 2026, but in order to ensure our users can continue to browse the web, we will extend support another six months and re-evaluate. After that, if support is not extended, users should upgrade their operating system to continue receiving Firefox security and feature updates.

Thank you so much for extending Firefox 115 ESR until the end of August 2026. We really appreciate it!

I agree. Firefox needs to be continued to be supported on Windows 7 indefinitely. Developers need to consider this. With all the hype about "security risks" Windows 7 users need the browsers to be secure. Users of Windows 11 have their security taken care of by Microsoft whereas MS has abandoned Win7 users, giving past, current and future purchasers a middle finger as if to say, "Oh sorry you are only purchasing a rental, you do not actually own your system." "We want you to buy and throw away, buy and throw away, destroying the environment and your personal wealth." I bought a PC with Win11 on it in late 2024. It took me 45 minutes just to turn it on because I had to bypass the hotmail/microsoft sign up. Then it took me another couple days trying to get it into a usable state. So I returned it. Could not stand it.
