I'm not really sure why I have to start a "conversation" in order to provide feedback on Firefox, but here you go: I specifically migrated from Chrome to Firefox because I wanted a browser that was compatible with some essential extensions but didn't offer any AI options or make AI hard to avoid.

Today I installed updates and found that an AI search engine had been added to Firefox, and I had to remove it. It's obviously possible, but it's a step towards removing the value of Firefox for me, and so I wanted to provide some feedback and suggest that you stop at the optional-and-has-to-be-actively-turned-on AI chat thing. Out of the major browsers it made you unique (it pretty much made you unique among almost every website and app give the AI saturation). People wanting embedded and unavoidable AI can certainly find that in Edge and Chrome--Firefox was a lovely oasis that's ruined.

They've been going harder into AI for a while. There are guides for going into about:config to turn off the (many, too many) AI settings now integrated into the browser. If the ability to fully and completely turn off AI ever leaves Firefox - if there is ever a chatbot or "search" engine that does not let me fully disable it, I will be leaving for whatever tiny browser startup pops up to say "no AI here!" because you know there will be one.
