Make the vertical tab hover expand as a pointer that hovers completely over the vertical tab

Some websites have buttons or their own sidebars on the left side of the page.

When I try to move my mouse pointer to a button on the left side of the website, I sometimes accidentally move the pointer over the vertical tab area on the far left of the browser.

The vertical tabs then expand, covering the website button I wanted to click. I have to move the pointer away and wait for the vertical tabs to collapse.

However, if I move the pointer close to the vertical tabs again within a second (yes, just close, perhaps within 40 pixels), Firefox seems to predict my intention and expands the tabs again, once more covering the button on the left side of the webpage. This is incredibly annoying.

My initial mistake, combined with this predictive reopening of the vertical tabs, prevents me from clicking the website button on my second and third attempts.

Please make this feature of predictively reopening the vertical tabs to be optional, similar to the behavior in the Edge browser.

Agreed - this is SUPER annoying. I develop a web app that has it's menu down the left and I'm constantly battling the vertical tabs expanding on-nearly-mouseover 😠
