Try the following steps:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;P&gt;Go to &lt;STRONG&gt;Settings → Composition → HTML Style&lt;/STRONG&gt;, and uncheck &lt;STRONG&gt;“Use my default colours”&lt;/STRONG&gt;.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then go to &lt;STRONG&gt;Settings → General → Language &amp;amp; Appearance&lt;/STRONG&gt;, and under &lt;STRONG&gt;Colours&lt;/STRONG&gt;, select &lt;STRONG&gt;Use system colours&lt;/STRONG&gt; and save.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;P&gt;If it still resets, switch to the &lt;STRONG&gt;Default theme&lt;/STRONG&gt; under &lt;STRONG&gt;Add-ons → Themes&lt;/STRONG&gt;, restart Thunderbird, and reapply your preferences.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;This should keep your background white (or your system’s default) instead of orange when composing new emails.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Every time I want to reply to an email or write a new one, my own colours are used again. The settings for using the default colours are not saved. What do I need to do to save these settings permanently? I don't want an orange background. I wana use standard colours.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
