Junk will not be deleted

According my settings the junk mails in junk folder should be deleted after three days.
But - instead of deleting these junk mails automaticly - the junk mails will just be moved to trash folder (which then must be cleared separately/manually) - absolute NONSENSE !!
My thunderbird current version 138.0.2 - before update to this current version, the junk mails have been DELETED (!!) according the description in the manual and according my settings and NOT moved to trash !!

In real life, I don't take the trash out of the trash can, then store the trash in my living room, before I bring it to the garbage can in front of the house ...!

Entsprechend der Einstellungen sollte erkannte Junk Mail aus dem Junk Ordner nach drei Tagen gelöscht werden (wie es auch in der Thunderbird-Anleitung beschrieben ist und wie es in der Vergangenheit auch war).
Aber die Junk Mail wird seit einem der letzten Updates (z.Zt. 138.0.2) nur in den Papierkorb verschoben, statt daß sie gelöscht wird ... - was aus meiner Sicht keinen Sinn macht.
Wie kann man diesen Makel beheben?
Danke im voraus für jeden Hinweis.

Im richtigen Leben hole ich den Müll ja auch nicht aus dem Mülleimer, deponiere ihn erst im Wohnzimmer bevor ich ihn dann zur Mülltonne vor dem Haus bringe ...!

You too have noticed that most updates have hidden "features" such as the one you mention in email.

I have completely given up on Mozilla/Firefox ever being able to operate "radio buttons" successfully in surveys, websites that use them, or any form of Java script. NO ONE has been able to give any directions (without delving into "root" programming) to fix these issues. Mozilla/Firefox proves the old adage, worth what you pay for it!

Auch Ihnen ist aufgefallen, dass die meisten Updates versteckte „Funktionen“ enthalten, wie die, die Sie in Ihrer E-Mail erwähnt haben.

Ich habe die Hoffnung aufgegeben, dass Mozilla/Firefox jemals Radiobuttons in Umfragen, auf Websites, die diese verwenden, oder in irgendeiner Form von Java-Skript erfolgreich bedienen kann. Niemand konnte mir (ohne tief in die Programmierung einzusteigen) Anweisungen zur Behebung dieser Probleme geben. Mozilla/Firefox bestätigt das alte Sprichwort: Es ist sein Geld wert!

I found no new bug reports in this area for the past year.

@Globi are you still experiencing this issue?

If you are, does the problem go away after installing the prior version https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/137.0.2 ? You need to use the switch "--allow-downgrade" on first startup.

In the meantime I installed thunderbird twice: no improvement, but same result: after three days spam moved trash instead of deleting it
