Yesterday I received two notifications, one from each of my installed copies of Firefox Mobile on Android. They "helpfully" informed me that I can make Firefox mine by installing extensions. These were both sent from a "marketing" notifications category.

There are several problems with this:

Nobody likes spam. Do not spam your users.

Both installations of Firefox Mobile already had several extensions installed. Why advertise installing extensions when I'm clearly already using them?

I use Firefox Mobile in lieu of installing apps, because installed apps have a penchant for sending spam notifications. The irony is palpable.

I find this decision very questionable. Please reconsider.

Hello, thanks for sharing this with us and apologies for the inconvenience 😞

This was not intended and we shut this campaign off after only about a day. Basically, it was only supposed to target dormant users, but that restriction was accidentally removed during an update. It has currently been fixed and is going through a round of QA.

If this continues to be an issue in the next update please do let us know.
