maybe it is also an idea to leave out the trackers from google such as: www.googletagmanager.com etc. and to work without letting them know what we are doing.

how do I get rid of it? I tried disabling everything to do with google in the settings since it's a major privacy concern. but the google search pin remains. super annoying.

Found the solution, you can' just untick the box for google, it does nothing, you have to click the remove button.
