Caching Problem? Since the 140.0.2 Upgrade problems displaying this website correctly.
I have a very specific problem since the updated Firefox on my systems to 140.0.2
The problems are with a website produced with jAlbum. It works on all Browsers, Safari, Chrome, Edge but
Problems occur with all these:
Firefox 140.0.2 (64-bit) MacBook Air
Firefox 140.0 Android Samsung S25 Ultra
Firefox 140.0 Android Samsung S21 Ultra
Firefox 140.0.2 (64-bit) Windows10
Firefox 140.0.2 (aarch64) MacBook Pro
Firefox 139.0.4 (64-bit) Windows11 OK !!!!
But when I upgraded to
Firefox 140.0.2 (64-bit) Windows11 the same problem as all the others.
The website which will demonstrate the problem is https://www.pvpsi.ch/Album
Basically, the wide header image should change to represent the contents of the individual year and photographer's Albums. It was working until I upgraded Firefox and still works in other browsers, Edge, Safari, Chrome.
I had reported it in the jAlbum Forum https://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?messageID=370932&#370932

But since I was able to reproduce it on 5 different versions of Firefox on Mac, Windows10/11, Android with the latest version, however, it was behaving correctly on the older version until I upgraded it from 139.0.4 to 140.0.2. I must now presume it is a Firefox problem.

I have tried Shift Reload without effect, but Shift and Link creates a new window and a new cache and the banner image changes, once, but afterwards also no longer changes. It seems to be a caching problem.

Other users from the jAlbum Community have been able to reproduce and confirm the same lack of effect with the latest version.

A suggestion made in the jAlbum forum:
The suspicion is that, in a quest for greater "efficiency," Mozilla/Firefox are maybe relying too heavily on the cache when it shouldn't be. They're making the unwarranted assumption that a background image file with the same name should be automatically fetched from cache, even though it's in a different directory. Bad assumption.

Why does Firefox sometimes just not work with some sites?

Firefox has been my default browser (Mac) for years, and it usually works well (except see this: Please mark minimized windows with a ♦ in the Window menu)

But occasionally I find a website that works with other browsers, but not Firefox. The most common symptom is: I click on a button on the page, and…nothing happens. Copy the page URL into Safari and it works fine.

I haven't the faintest idea why this happens, but it seems to be happening more often lately. I wish it didn't.

Hi, I have experienced the same problem. For example with the 'One minute BBC News', https://www.bbc.com/news/av/10462520

The page is shown but the video doesn't work. It works properly on Chromium.

I'm using Linux and my Firefox version is 102.3.0esr (64-bit)

Regards,

Juan Manuel

Latest update to Firefox allows you to logon on to Amazon, but every page after the first is screwed up. Blog knows MS has been sending daily or more security updates as well so maybe they're at fault, but a friend using Chrome(yes, I know, friends don't let friends use Chrome) can access everything with no problem. So ...

I am on Firefox 107.0 with Windows 10 22H1 and when I go to my banking web site, I can view the log in page, however, once I log in, nothing ever happens going forward. I refresh the page several times and then receive a message that the page is forbidden. I can use Microsoft Edge to log in and everything functions properly. The banking log in page is https://onlinebanking.usbank.com/auth/login/?usedoldurl=true. I had this same issue a couple of times when I was using Firefox 106.0, but do not recall exactly which version. Firefox was functioning properly during Firefox 106.0.5

I agree with everyone - especially the part that it is now worse then ever. The occasional glitch, fine I will switch to Chrome for that website, but it has just become intolerable. I have synced all my links over to chrome, set up the toolbar how I want it and now I am transferring all the passwords since Firefox can't seem to manage that. Sadly, I think this once great browser is in its final days.

Same for me. In my case, it is with RBC Royal Bank in Canada. I have everything financial associated with them, even including estate management in the event I pass. The newest baby in the family is RBC Advisor, which is a portal to administer, for the user, a Defined Contribution Pension Plan initiated by my employer to this RBC service. I access thru my regular online banking methods just fine but, as I go thru steps of initiating my RBC Advisor, their systems hangs at some point, as if they are trying to fish something out of my Firefox browser that Firefox simply will not let them get to. Both my employer and RBC people told me I should just give up and get Google chrome. I despise all things Google to the highest level.

My medical insurance site kp.org quit working with FF V129.0 two weeks ago, but it works with Safari V17.5.

With FF, right after I enter my username and password, I get the error imaged below. Sometimes, I get that error right after I click on the "Sign In" icon, before I have entered anything.

"Cookies" is set to "Standard".

--Gil

macOS Sonoma V14.5 on a MacBook Air M1, 2020, FF V129.0, Safari V17.5

I just did some extensive testing utilizing https://app.kanka.io/login (a TTRPG campaign manager) and I finally narrowed the culprit down: signing into your firefox sync account permanently alters.. something in your browser. As soon as I sign into my account to share bookmarks? A lot of websites, but not all, just stop working.

I have no idea why it's doing this, but until it's figured out, I'll be keeping sync off and moving my bookmarks manually.

Tested on both Firefox and Nightly by the way.

I sent a similar complaint to the Website Staff at kp.org. A few days later, the problem was fixed!

Thanks to the Website people at KP and at Firefox. They both get the credit!

--Gil

Here we are some 2 years later and I too have the same problem on FF 133.03. I've had enough and will now abandon FF and move on to Edge where everything works. Shame but far, far too often I have to fire up Edge to access links that simply do not work in FF and these are bona fida links.

This issue may occur due to Firefox’s stricter privacy settings or incompatibilities with certain website scripts. Websites optimized for WebKit (Safari's engine) might not fully support Firefox. Ensure Firefox is updated clear the cache and disable extensions that might block scripts. If problems persist try the Troubleshoot Mode under Help to identify the cause. Reporting the issue to the website owner can also encourage better Firefox compatibility. I also have this website for testing purpose and its working fine. https://www.uvcureadhesive.com/

A solution has been found by the Author of the jAlbum Tiger Skin v. 6.11.0 , which counteracts the behaviour of the latest version of the Firefox Browser I reported on above. My website now works as it should.
Thank you.
