I used to use ”firefox -P“ to switch profiles. When I saw this 'new feature' offered similar functionality, I decided to give it a try. But now I deeply regret doing so—it's terrible!

I created a new profile using the new profile manager released in 138.0, then opened the about:profiles page to see all profiles, but only saw the one I just created (and not the one I was using earlier). I tried to delete it (the newly created one) via the new profile manager, but nothing happened when I pressed the delete button. I tried deleting it again via about:profiles, and this time it worked, however the about:profiles interface showed no profiles at all (even though the one I used earlier was still on my hard drive and still in use in my current Firefox window). I then tried restarting Firefox and the crash report window then appeared. I tried to manually start Firefox again, and it started successfully, but it asked me to create a new profile because it didn't find any existing profile. The old profile I was using has been on my hard drive since the beginning.

I managed to solve this problem by reusing the old profile's directory to create a "new" profile after these happened, and it worked. Firefox seems to have recognized the old one.

Just found that even clicking the Default Profile (初始配置文件) won't work at Firefox startup. It just doesn't react to my operation.

I absolutely loathe Profiles. A new profile opened up when I booted Firefox and I was completely lost. Where were my bookmarks? Where was anything? It got me very upset, and can see no use for them. I wish I could remove the Profiles tab from the top of the browser. Totally useless and annoying.

it can be restored. for some reason firefox bugs the profiles.ini with the new semi-profile and you need to find out the path of your former profile. it's still there in the OS's profiles folder. profiles in Windows are stored in
<LI-CODE lang="markup">%appdata%\mozilla\firefox\profiles</LI-CODE>
then you need to create a new path in profiles.ini pointing to the old profile. (use the already established paths in profiles.ini as guideline or google how to edit profiles.ini)
