Yeah that drives me crazy. Seems like every other article I want to read from the New Tab screen is paywalled. Lots of stories from The Atlantic pop up there, for instance. I think Vanity Fair is another one of those. Just ran into it again on a story from GQ.

It would be really nice if we had an option to weed out the paywalled sites.

There are a lot of people out there who agree with me that News should never be paywalled. Information should be free, especially information that can improve people's lives, or warn them about dangers. Since there's no way we're ever going to get paywalling to go away, we should at least have the option to not be tempted and then let down because everything is a subscription now.

First off, I quite like the Pocket feature. There have been many interesting articles I would not have otherwise stumbled upon.

My problem is when I find an interesting article and click, then cannot read it because the article is paywalled.

I'm not blaming you for the paywalling; however, it is frustrating to discover I've wasted my time clicking and loading that page (and giving them a free pageview I assume).

I know back in the day, Washington Post used to Gmail 5 or so headline stories which were accessible, bypassing/tunneling-through their paywall using *those* links. Perhaps something like that is possible? Or verify that the article is not paywalled before placing in Pocket?

It's true that paywalled articles can be frustrating when discovered through Pocket. A feature to filter non-paywalled content would be great!
