Customising the Thunderbird Calendar Date Picker

I have been using Thunderbird for many years, and am generally happy with it,

One thing that has me irritated over the years is the left side date picker.

I have customised the font size for the calendar entries (day, week month etc). But in my opinion, the date picker takes up too much real estate, and so far, I have not found a way to customise it.

I would be happy to have the picker in a much smaller font, making the left column (picker and calendar list) much smaller.

Anyone have any ideas? Maybe I am missing something in the config editor?

You can narrow it quite a bit by clicking the vertical splitter then drag to the left.

Yes, but if you narrow it any more than I show above, instead of the date picker dropping in font size (responsive), you loose part of the picker.
