When I see an email come in, I use threaded view, which is fine.

If I reply to an email, in a thread, the reply shows up in the thread too. All good.

However, if I view the reply, I have to wade through the entire email conversation to get to my reply (typically at the bottom).

This is really bothersome, if I wanted to see previous messages in the conversation, I would select and view the message involved.

Having to wade through the full conversation to get to my reply is painful. Especially for long conversations.
It became worse when I have a conversation that involved multiple people, do you think I could figure out where the reply was?

Can I turn this 'feature' off? Not threading, that is ok, but the actual display of all the messages in a thread when only a single message is selected for viewing.

...Lyall

I appreciate the prompt reply, but that is about ordering of messages in a thread in the message window.

If I reply to a message, I have threading enabled so I can see the original email and the reply I sent (in Sent). (excuse my poor 'graphical representation')
 Original Message
 |- Reply Message

If I read the "Reply Message", the reading pane includes the original message I replied to, not simply what I said.

I want to turn off the display of the original message, when I look at the 'Sent' message.

Example

Original Message : Hello
Reply Message : Good to see you

when I open the reply message I see

Subject and Message Headers
Hello
----------------
Subject and message headers
Good to see you

I only want to see

Subject and message headers
 Good to see you

If I wanted to read the previous messages in the conversation, I would read those messages.

Can I do this?

Can't be done, AFAIK. You can suggest that at [Mozilla Connect](https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/idb-p/ideas).
