Here is what we can read on their blog:

"The reason we’ve stepped away from making blanket claims that “We never sell your data” is because, in some places, the LEGAL definition of “sale of data” is broad and evolving. As an example, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) defines “sale” as the “selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a consumer’s personal information by [a] business to another business or a third party” in exchange for “monetary” or “other valuable consideration.”

As it happens, this term is exactly what the community uses Firefox (and Thunderbird) for. No matter what spurious arguments justify this withdrawal, its return must be demanded by the community.
I can't imagine continuing to use Firefox if it no longer guarantees that NONE of my data will be sold.

Let's fight for our rights.

It's easy to see where they're going with this: https://connect.mozilla.org/t5/discussions/how-we-re-moving-forward-to-make-ads-and-privacy-coexist/m-p/72952

It's quite simple, I will stop using Firefox. Good riddance.
