I had like to report that download of a normal PDF file does not work in the last update of Firefox. My Firefox browser has its latest update. What is the problem? On the contrary, in the browser Edge, it works. My pc is Windows 10 supported.

They (devs) claim that they 'fixed' downloads:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manage-downloads-preferences-using-downloads-menu

I suspect this change might be affecting your user experience.

What happens when you try to download a PDF? For example:

An error message displays in the page or in a popup

A failure icon appears on the Downloads list

A blank tab opens

Something else

You could try switching your PDF handling preferences around and see whether that makes any difference. See: https://support.mozilla.org/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-or-choose-another-viewer

I am using FF 98.02 on WIn 10 and confirm that downloads is not working properly. I tried downloading a 110MB file from a client on Wetransfer and it failed repeatedly after 10 minutes. Client sent me a link from Tresorit and it also failed after 6 minutes.

Switched to Chrome browser and downloaded completed from Tresorit.

A few days ago I had trouble navigating and downloading with FF 98.02 on Linux MInt 20.3 and it was only a 54MB file from the pcloud website. I ended up rolling back with timeshift to FF 98.01 and all was well again.

FF 98.02 is the common factor in the failed downloads.

Update: 31-Mar-2022: It appears as though a "Firefox Refresh" fixes the download problem. Go to about:support and refresh FF.

@bt wrote:

Firefox 101.01 can't download anything from anywhere. Tried refresh, went through settings, tried everything I could find.

That's not normal. I suggest posting this problem on the Mozilla Support site. They have a team of support volunteers to troubleshoot malfunctions with your currently installed version of Firefox, while this site is focused on idea submissions for future versions of Firefox (looking ahead anywhere from 8 weeks to many months). Here's a link to the new question form (for Windows/Mac/Linux): https://mzl.la/3y1vQUQ
