Home page icon rows too spread from each other.

In the last release you changed the size of the icons and the distance between rows. They are too spread, and the icons too small, and the text too large and none of this can be configured/changed!!!!!!!!!
I want to see at least three rows in my FF home page.

The issue is that after I close FF and open it again, the setting goes back to TRUE.
How do I change it permanently?

FF didn't use to be so troublesome in the past.

I'll repeat my question: what's the point of a study if I don't provide any feedback for the one making the study?

How do I say that newtabLayouts.variant-b is not working fine for me? (before I click the Remove button where I guess I opt-out of the study)

Ok, thank you. But if they are pushing you unwillingly into a study program, I think they should at least provide an easy way to provide feedback, something like thumb up/down buttons or send a comment field.

This was marked as "Solved" but IMHO it's not... it just provides workaround how to get the old variant back without any possibility to influence the new variant.

I agree with @Eduardo1 that if they are doing A/B tests there should be a feedback option...

Yes, my "solution" was to Remove myself from this study, but not a good one because I would have liked to influence on this issue to also provide a solution for many other people that may be facing the same problem. But without having to do much, like creating accounts somewhere else.

Please do not just copy Google Chromes new tab page or anything else google does. the pre 2016 was fine and worked really well. Then google changed the new tab page for no reason, and it was the final reason why i switched to Firefox. If Mozilla keeps things consistent and focuses on fixing bugs and keeps the interface simple and consistent, then people will look at switching to better and more simple, less bloated options like Firefox.

I'm also here to say how much I get annoyed by the new design with small icons, and that it's impossible to deactivate it permanently.

Furthermore I cannot understand what this study is - there is nothing (noticeably) different in the screen, other than the very bad layout of my 2 rows x 8 icons

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b = True

"automatically".
They are insisting in these small icons that I don't like...
FF doesn't respect users preferences any more?

Adding blank space is not an answer to "improvement". Allow the rows # to increase and the rows to spread across the page. What I am now seeing is a home page without common sense.

But I was able to set

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b = False

I was pointing that it reverted to True by itself recently. Probably after an automatic update. What is rude.

Yes, that's the default, but I had previously changed variant-b to false.

Perhaps it was when the study was completed that changed my setting to the default. But then it is a bug.
And it did it even when I had removed that study (well, If I didn't remove it, I wouldn't have been able to change the setting).

Today again, all homepage icons are small again🤦and I have:

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-a

and

browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b

set to false.

What can I do to have the icons bigger?

PS: I doesn't seem that I have a study going on that could change this now.

Hi Eduardo - I'm sorry to hear you're running into issues. We recently rolled out a new design which should have made the icons bigger. It would be more similar to what VeganFox posted above, which had enabled "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabShortcuts.refresh" to true. Are you seeing a different design from this?

One note is that if you set "browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b" to true, this will make the icon sizes match the container they are in.

I've set browser.newtabpage.activity-stream.newtabLayouts.variant-b to true.
The icons got a bit bigger, but I think they are still too small, at least related to what they used to be.
I guess the pin could be outside, since there is so much free space between the icons.
