Leaving some feedback on Netflix video quality

This is my first time here, I'm really just annoyed and would like to leave feedback somewhere. I prefer to just send an email but this seems to be the best option available.

Today I had to close my Firefox browser and open Microsoft Edge. If that isn't a huge red flag then I can't think of a better example.

I don't know what is causing it specifically, but Netflix video quality on Firefox is terrible. Simply testing on another browser and getting much better results is reason enough to me that the fault is with the firefox browser in some regard.

Microsoft Edge gave me a better experience.

Hey CeaselessFish, welcome to the forum! While Firefox should support Full HD Netflix now, there might be a setting or extension causing the problem. Have you tried opening Netflix in a new, private window in Firefox? That can sometimes bypass any conflicting add-ons. Also, checking your internet connection speed might be helpful!

I get your frustration. Streaming quality differences between browsers can be really noticeable and it’s fair to expect the same experience on Firefox as elsewhere. Sometimes it comes down to things like DRM support, codecs, or how Netflix optimizes playback per browser. Hopefully the dev team can look into it, because having to switch browsers just to watch a show smoothly really breaks the experience.

Netflix video quality is generally excellent, offering crisp visuals and smooth streaming across most devices.
However, Delta Executor keys the experience can vary depending on internet speed and selected resolution settings. Providing consistent high-definition quality, even on slower connections, would make viewing even more enjoyable.

Sometimes Netflix’s video quality on Firefox really does dip depending on DRM settings or codec support. I’ve had similar issues and had to test alternative options too. If you want to compare streaming behavior across different setups, tools like www.onstreaminfo.app can be helpful for checking playback performance and alternative streaming methods. Hopefully Firefox pushes an update that improves Netflix quality soon.

That definitely sounds frustrating. A few things could explain the difference you're seeing.

Netflix streams at different maximum resolutions depending on the browser and the DRM capabilities it exposes. Microsoft Edge generally has better support for hardware-accelerated playback and protected media, which can result in higher-quality streams compared to Firefox on some systems.

Before concluding that Firefox is entirely at fault, it may be worth checking:

Whether hardware acceleration is enabled in Firefox.
If graphics drivers are up to date.
Whether Firefox is using the latest version of the Widevine DRM module.
Whether any extensions (especially privacy or content-blocking extensions) are interfering with playback.

If the issue persists after checking those, it would be helpful if you could provide your operating system, Firefox version, display resolution, and whether the poor quality is limited to Netflix or also affects other streaming services.
