Firefox history does not show date and time?

I switched to Firefox recently from Google Chrome and I love it! But, the 'History' feature is missing a crucial feature (unless I'm missing something): The actual date and time you visited that particular site. Seems like a feature that should be there but I'll be darned if I can find it.

If you are using the History sidebar, you won't see it there, but you should see it if you pop up the separate Library window. Either

menu > History > Manage History
(menu bar) History > Show All History

On Windows you also can use Ctrl+Shift+H to launch that window.

If you want to open that in a tab, you can bookmark the following internal address:

chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml

(You may be wondering, why does this address start with "chrome://"? This is based on the historical use of chrome to refer to the browser UI, long before another company thought it would be a great product name.)

Thanks for the reply. Ctrl-Shift-H brings up the history window but still no dates and/or times being shown. Only the name of the site and the address URL. However, the 'chrome://browser/content/places/places.xhtml' URL does work and shows the date and time. I wonder why that isn't the default behavior?

Go to the Show All History window. Control-click on the column headings and make sure Most Recent Visit is checked.

FWIW, the History window and the Bookmark window are the same. Many things don't work in the History window.

Thanks, cb. The main reason I switched to FF is because Chrome stopped working with Disney+ for some reason (so did Edge), but I have to say that Chrome's history function is vastly superior to FF's so far. I installed an extension called "Better History NG" and it is an improvement over the stock FF history functionality but still a long way to go in my opinion.

menu_-->history-->manage history-->Views-->show columns-->Most recent Visit(click on the checkbox)(this works only LInux-version,how about windows i dont know soory)

Install History Master for better search, https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-BR/firefox/addon/history-master/. It's not perfect but helps.

And one more thing about it: you need to select the dates in the interval to show more of the History...

Same here - Windows 10 - Firefox latest version - the modified date column is there but blank for all entries. If I select today, yesterday or last 7 days, I get different results so I'm sure it knows the dates, but they are not visible in the history window. I need to know the date I visited a site so I can provide feedback to the vendor.

The last modified is for the bookmarks, I am certain most recent visit is default on so not sure why you aren't seeing datetime?

If you want to see history properly, read the .sqlite. For that I use Mozilla History View, you can also use DB Browser for SQLite but not as good.

I'm missing the last visted / last modified visibility in the browser-built-in history aswell. It must be there, cause sorting by last visited works it just doesn't show up.

You need to Go to Menu->History->Manage History then in change your view( three dotted line horizontally) tick mark "Most recent Visit" I see many of you have tick marked last modified but that not right i repeat you need to tick mark "Most recent visit".

Firefox shows your browsing history, but it does not clearly show the exact date and time for each visit. You can check some info by pressing Ctrl plus H to open your full history. To see more details, you may need to use add ons like History Manager from Firefox Add ons store. These tools help show full time and date of each visit.

Tap the small box on the left side of the top bar. Under Firefox View tap History. This will bring up your history showing times. Easy.

Thanks @joeypanhandle, that's EXACTLY what I needed. I see regular history still shows as an empty field in last modified time, but this menu on the left shows exactly the level of details I was looking for. In fact, I could have used it yesterday when I tried to find a purchase from a site that uses a different URL for order updates that the one I ordered from, making it difficult for me to find the offending site. I knew roughly what time I did this at so I would have been able to pinpoint it. I can only hope that mozilla will update the main history window in the future as well with timestamps.

What do you mean update? Firefox already has history, have you skipped reading everyone's replies?..I think screenshots would help to detail what you mean Firefox is missing. It isn't reading like anything's missing, just user error. But I am not sure.

My OP was July 2024. Unfortunately I don't have a screen shot to go back to but I had last modified and most recent visit columns enabled which were blank, no values. Just like other posters have commented. I had the latest Firefox version installed. I had given up and stopped looking for it. I do see now that most recent visit is now populated when the column is shown. I am sure that 18 months ago, when I posted my issue, like others, that the column had no data before as I recall enabling all columns, that Mozilla has finally fixed the issue somewhere along the way.

Yah, it's possible it comes from updating to latest. I don't update often as stuff can break and instead update when something that seems related to outdated versions breaks like more modern pages failing to load pre-Quantum. Also this thread seems to have 2 different groups in it, one didn't know how to see visit time and the other had a bug where visit times weren't displaying even with the column on and large enough to show at least some numbers presumably. Someone claimed sorting still worked so I guess the numbers were invisible but still there.

As the stats may have been there but not visible, one could use Mozilla History View or an sqlite reader but MZH has a user-friendly time display among other things(But both would show all visit times which can be messy to read). Though that would be for the future. Repairing db from one of the about:about pages would've likely done nothing as it doesn't read like a corruption, just a display error. Idk which page does it or where in the page the repair button is now. Could also be handy in the future. I might get a bookmark corruption once every 2 years. Adding new bookmarks can place them in incorrect positions. Could probably help with other corruptions.

Still don't know what you mean by Firefox updating something, if times are there now isn't the issue fixed? I don't expect them to do anything said in these threads so this is more for my curiosity if you want to reply.
