I have tried, and failed, several times to log into the web-site of British energy supplier e-On Next.

Their Home page opens correctly but when I try to log-in I get this:—

which never progresses further. Note that for this attempt I had disabled μBlock Origin and Firefox's Enhanced Tracking Protection. The result is also the same in Troubleshoot Mode.

It also seems strange the the Reload Page icon is on show rather than Stop.

I loaded-up Chrome, did what I needed to, closed it and returned to Firefox which was still showing the above.

Thanks for that.

I made a new profile, logged into to get my normal bookmarks &c and lo and behold it worked. I then shut Firefox down and copied my chome directory to the new profile and relaunched. It still worked with all my chrome rules applied so something else must have got corrupted in the old profile that Troubleshoot Mode still loads.
