Were they difficult to maintain? It's just text via Firefox Sync.

Firefox functions sometimes resemble Google services; as soon as you start using them, they disappear...

I don't think it was just using Firefox Sync, due to limitations of that service, but I haven't researched it in detail. There is an Idea thread you can vote on over here:

Meanwhile, if you want to try an add-on that only uses Firefox Sync, I'm aware of this one but haven't used it myself:

It would be nice if there was something like a Q&A session with developers about removed features. These features were often cool.
