Guide on how to disable threaded view in Thunderbird

In the aftermath of the recent threaded view update to Thunderbird I found that a guide on how to disable it fully would be helpful.

So, here's the way to disable it

Config>Config Editor>change mailnews.default_view_flags to 0

Sure, go to settings and scroll down until you find config editor (it will be at the very bottom).

At the next screen search for mailnews.default_view_flags (you can just input it at the top search bar) double click it and change the value to 0, press enter and close and restart Thunderbird.

Thank you so much. I was disabling it manually in each folder and it was driving me crazy. I don't understand how they change the default settings like that without give you an easy option in the setting to change it back.

I've been through every one of the settings choices, but I can't find config editor.

OK, I found config editor, and changed the flags from 1 to zero. When I restarted Thunderbird, many of the messages that had been threaded were no longer visible, but some still showed with the threads.

I also changed it to zero, with no effect.
Somebody please explain to me why it is that after YEARS, we STILL have do deal with disabling threads?
I swear, I would love to make a donation to Thunderbird, but I have promised myself I will not do that until I can easily make threads COMPLETELY GO AWAY.
Many users consider threads to be a HORRIBLE "feature". We want them GONE!!!!
C'mon people, all you need to do is add one global switch!

(Anyone feel free to correct me if I wrong, please)
