It is driving me crazy as well. It is behaving the same way on both of my Macs running Firefox version 123. Always Show is already checked, but the toolbar disappears and I have to click Always Show with each new tab. It is a terrible time waster.

Hi coniwalk, ValB, et al. It drove me nuts as well. I fixed it, I believe (note, I use private browsing). Credit to Reddit's "Subject_Newspaper_37's" solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1ayhty8/bookmarks_toolbar_not_appearing_in_private/. If this link disappears, "Subject_Newspaper_37" stated: "Same experience here, using Firefox 122 and then still after updating to 123. After some digging in the about:config page I found browser.toolbars.bookmarks.showInPrivateBrowsing - turning it to true got me the bookmarks toolbar back. Looks like it was introduced a few versions back, defaulting to false, not sure why it didn't bite me until now, but I never saw the new purple private browser window interface until today either." Another option in the Reddit thread -- which I did NOT do because it would have wiped out my extensions -- was to close Firefox and then do a refresh by holding down the shift key when starting Firefox.

This sounds frustrating—like ordering your usual Breakfast Menu only to find the waiter keeps taking it away after the first bite! The menu bar in Firefox should stay on the table (or screen) the whole time, not vanish the moment you start browsing.

A few things to try:

Reset Firefox’s "Table Setting": Go to Firefox > Preferences > General and toggle "Always show toolbar in full screen" (even if you’re not in full screen). Sometimes the browser forgets its manners.

Clear the "Kitchen Cache": Corrupted prefs can cause quirks. Try refreshing Firefox (Help > Troubleshoot Mode) to see if the menu bar behaves.

Check for Crumbs (Conflicts): Any recent macOS updates or Firefox add-ons? A misbehaving extension might be yanking the menu bar away like an overeager busboy.

If none of that works, you might need to file a bug report—this isn’t the "always visible" experience Firefox promised, and others on macOS 12 might be seeing it too. Hope your menu bar comes back to the table soon!

Comment:
That sounds really frustrating, especially since the menu bar behavior has always been consistent. Hopefully Mozilla addresses this soon—issues like this can be as annoying as trying to find a clear tropical smoothie menu with prices when the layout won’t stay visible.

I love how Culver’s menu is organized—it makes choosing your meal so easy!

This usually happens if the actual Menu Bar setting was toggled off or affected by full-screen mode. Go to View > Toolbars and make sure “Menu Bar” is checked, and confirm you’re not in full screen (Control + Command + F). Sometimes updates change display behavior—kind of like checking the 7 Brew calorie menu settings to make sure everything shows up clearly before you order.

While browsing tech discussions like this, I occasionally check quick online resources such as the JAMBA JUICE MENU when planning a smoothie break during long browsing sessions.

Browser updates can reset or change UI behavior unexpectedly, so checking full toolbar settings, themes, or even restarting Firefox in troubleshooting mode might help.

I’ve seen this happen in Mozilla Firefox when the browser switches between normal and full-screen modes on macOS. Sometimes the menu bar won’t persist unless “Always Show Toolbar in Full Screen” is enabled in system settings. It’s also worth resetting toolbar customization or launching Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to rule out extension conflicts. it really impacts usability—kind of like how clean, structured layouts (such as the The Jimmy Johns menu) make navigation smoother and more predictable for users.

Had a similar issue where the menu bar wouldn’t stay visible and it turned out to be related to fullscreen or auto-hide settings on macOS. Sometimes toggling fullscreen off or pressing Alt/Option can temporarily bring it back, and checking Firefox’s toolbar customization can help too. It’s one of those small glitches that can get annoying quickly. I usually switch to something light like infinate wordle when dealing with little bugs like this. In the end, a quick setting tweak usually sorts it out.

That issue with the menu bar not staying visible in Firefox 123.0 on macOS 12.7.3 can be pretty annoying, especially when you're trying to navigate quickly. It often comes down to display settings, full-screen behavior, or even an extension conflict interfering with the browser UI. Keeping things accessible matters, much like how people expect easy navigation when browsing something like a menu chick fil online. Hopefully a small tweak or update smooths it out soon and brings things back to normal.

Trying Troubleshoot Mode or resetting the toolbar layout often fixes it quickly. Also worth noting for unrelated browsing interests, 7 brew coffee comes up in a lot of searches for coffee-related topics.
